INSEARCH Essex and the University of Essex statement

This is a joint statement by the University of Essex and INSEARCH Limited regarding the INSEARCH Essex partnership at the University of Essex in the UK.

Since the inception of the collaboration four years ago, the INSEARCH Essex operation has grown steadily. Students following the fast track Certificate of Higher Education programmes in Business, Management and Computing have achieved a progression rate of more than 70% on to the second year of University of Essex Honours degree programmes, with a solid performance record at graduation.

After careful consideration, the University has decided that it would prefer to harmonise fast track provision and, following constructive discussions, INSEARCH and the University have agreed that the interests of future students will be best served through a harmonisation of pathway provision within the University's International Academy, so that the University’s wide range of pre-degree, undergraduate and postgraduate English and fast track programmes would be taught and run by a single academic department.

The INSEARCH Essex programmes will be integrated into the International Academy during the 2008-09 academic year. INSEARCH programmes will be taught as advertised, under the auspices of the International Academy at the University of Essex. All applicants enrolled with or holding an offer from INSEARCH Essex for 2008 entry will be admitted to the University, as will those entering directly into the second year of the relevant Essex Bachelors degree upon successful completion of the Certificate of Higher Education. We will continue to ensure that students have a high quality, intensive and well-supported academic and social experience.

Students recruited for 2009 entry to the Certificate of Higher Education programmes will be recruited directly into the University of Essex.

The University is committed to continuing the high quality Certificate of Higher Education fast track programmes in Business, Management and Computer Science.
